Amateur Radio is more than “just a hobby”. It can motivate and steer individuals into certain career paths, stimulate the creation of new companies, and work synergistically with other interests and hobbies. This presentation will follow Roger Palmer, VE7AP through a series of technical evolutions and business experiences that all have a common thread originally based on his interest in amateur radio. It will also document some of the projects which combined his boating interests with amateur radio, including his 1 KW marine mobile HF installation.
