Coffee at the Mall

Once again, IslandHF members got together for coffee at the mall. Fifteen enjoyed coffee, a show and tell (thanks, Roger), and techie HF conversation at Victoria’s Hillside Mall on November 10th.

Club members attending were John VE7MHI, Zachariah VE7ZCZ, Ed VE7LQV, Alan VE7UBA, Pierre VE7AL, Glenn VA7HC, Roger VE7AP, Dan VE7VNA, Peter VE7PLI, Rick VE7TK, Brian VE7JKZ, David VA7LFT, Robert VE7VAU Jim VE7KAZ, and Gord VE7GBH.

If you are a radio amateur in the Victoria, BC vicinity you are invited to join us. It’s quite the group (numbers wise) so come along early so that you can introduce yourself. The radio focus is high frequency HF but anything radio is discussed. (As for politics, leave that at home.)

Consider yourself invited.

Coffee Shack – a favorite activity

The IslandHF Coffee Shack is held on the second Tuesday of each month. It’s a favorite activity to members located in the Victoria area. The Coffee Shack edition for October 2025 had twelve attendees. As usual there was much conversation and sharing of technical info. This is one amateur club that prefers to “talk technical” versus talking about politics or the weather.

Please join us at the next Coffee Shack on November 10, 2025. It happens at the Hillside Mall at 10 a.m. near Tim Horton’s.

Below is a photo of some of the IslandHF members from October 13th.

Field test in the Food Court

NOTE from Scott VA7SNJ regarding happenings at the Coffee Shack on September 8th.

“Rick, Roger and I tested harmonic attenuation of my newly-built QMX transceiver. Roger was his attenuators, Rick with his TinySA. Results good – 2nd harmonic 60 dB down from fundamental!”
