An excellent presentation by Master Warrant Officer Nathaniel Senff VA7SNF was viewed by a dozen radio amateurs on Thursday evening. The slide show is approximately 15-20 minutes followed by a very active Q&A.

Nathaniel’s presentation inspired me to download WinLink and VARA HF (free!) and try out email over HF. If/when the BIG ONE hits Vancouver Island and all normal communications are knocked out, I’ll be able to send messages to family back east. I was surprised by how many stations there are across North America that accept WinLink messages and route them to the Internet. If you’re interested, there are numerous YouTube videos that explain the whole operation, settings etc.
