RAC Winter Contest 2024

January 2, 2025/0 Comments/in Contesting, Special Event/by Glenn Lindsey VA7HC

Greetings and a Happy New Year. May 2025 bring you health and happiness.

I just want to thank all of those members that took part in the RAC Winter Contest. Pierre Boucher VE7AL and I (VA7HC) put in a few hours in his shack and were rewarded with a decent score which included all 10 Canadian provinces and the Yukon Territory.

Below I have a screen capture of those members who posted to 3830 Scores. The IslandHF Radio Association is showing up to more and more contests. Thank you. I should also note that Jim Rogers VE7ZO scored 85,860 points and John Erskine scored 5,408 points. Thanks again.

Keymans Club of Japan CW contest

September 20, 2024/0 Comments/in Contesting, General Interest/by Brian Summers VE7JKZ

Propagation was awful and I only made a total of five Qs on 40m for a total of 80 points. What the heck I thought, so I sent in my N1MM Cabrillo file as a 40m single band log. Much to my surprise I received a certificate for being #1 in Canada! The lesson to be learned is send in a log – you just never know.

Editor’s note: The Keyman’s Club contest is a “User Defined Contest”. For this type of contest, two UDC modules are programmed for use in N1MM+. The use of these modules were for a worldwide contest. For the proposed IslandHF contest, the modules would be written for a more local contest – at least initially.
